On September 2, 2019, Raven’s life changed in an instant when she was hit by a car in a small Illinois town. At the shelter, rescuers discovered the two-year-old was pregnant, leading to an emergency c-section where, against the odds, one puppy survived. On December 1, Kristen arrived at the shelter after falling for Raven’s photo online. It was love at first sight; Raven’s gentle soul and affinity for belly rubs were undeniable, and Kristen officially adopted both Raven and her puppy that very day.
Though understandably skittish around vehicles and bikes at first, Raven’s resilience shined through as she conquered her fears within weeks. During the pandemic, she began joining Kristen at work, where her natural gift for healing became clear. She moved instinctively from person to person, offering comfort and companionship. Raven is so social that if she ever wanders out of the yard, you don’t have to look far—she’ll be wherever the nearest person is, waiting for a greeting.
An Australian Shepherd and Husky mix, Raven is a quiet observer who rarely barks, though she occasionally delights everyone with her melodic Husky “singing.” Whether she’s sleeping on her back, chasing bunnies in her dreams, or using her uncanny sixth sense to find someone in need of extra love, Raven is truly one of a kind.
