Kristen Zap is deeply passionate about helping others and has dedicated her career to supporting seniors and individuals with disabilities. With more than 20 years of experience in the social services field, she is known for her compassionate, personalized approach and unwavering commitment to treating every individual with the same care and respect she would want for her own family.
Before joining the Care Café, Kristen spent 10 years as the Adult Day at the J Associate Director of Client Services, where she oversaw every aspect of the participant experience — from enrollment and care planning to connecting families with additional resources and support when needed. Her warmth, empathy, and dedication have made a lasting impact on countless individuals and families throughout her career.
Kristen earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri. During her senior year, she volunteered with a local hospice organization, spending time with hospice patients who did not have regular visitors. Her passion for service, however, began long before college and runs in her blood. Growing up, she accompanied her parents in volunteering efforts, including annual events for a local IDD supported living facility, and was inspired by her mother’s driving force in helping establish the first Senior Center in Rolla.
Outside of work, Kristen and her partner, Ashley enjoy life in New Town with their sons, Corbin and Cameron. They love spending time outdoors, connecting with neighbors, and making memories as a family. Kristen also has a strong personal interest in interior design and is excited to take on many home projects in the years ahead.
